Viewing significant concepts

Concepts are basic units of linguistic or quantitative information that are derived from the textual content of content items. Classification Workbench identifies concepts that are statistically significant to a content item's relationship to a specified category. You can view significant concepts to understand how IBM® Content Classification analyzes and classifies content items.

About this task

Positive concepts are indicative of an item's inclusion in a specified category; negative concepts are indicative of an item's exclusion from a specified category. They are highlighted and color-coded on the Significant concepts window.

Restriction: Significant concepts are available only for knowledge base projects. The project must contain a relevant knowledge base, for example, a knowledge base that was created by using the Create knowledge base feature. In addition, your project must contain valid analysis data.

To view significant concepts:

Procedure

  1. Open the Significant concepts window by clicking View Significant Concepts on the Item Properties window or the Analyze free text window. In the Significant concepts window, concepts that are relevant for the item's category are highlighted, if any are found.
  2. Optional: Click View Concept List to display lists of positive and negative concepts.
  3. Optional: Select other categories and click Refresh Significant Concepts to view significant concepts related to those categories. You can filter the category list to display the content item's assigned categories or the top ten scoring categories.
