Learn how to upgrade from Transformation Advisor to Application Modernization Accelerator .

Overview

  • To upgrade from Transformation Advisor to Application Modernization Accelerator, complete several steps and make certain decisions.

  • If you have Transformation Advisor 4.4 or later and have scanned using the Discovery Tool from that version of Transformation Advisor, we recommend that you export and import your data so that you do not have to run the Discovery Tool again.

  • If you have Transformation Advisor 4.3 or earlier, you can still choose to export and import your data. However, you will not be able to view modernization options for later levels of Java SE and Jakarta EE. Additionally, you will not have sufficient information to choose MoRE as a destination. In this case, we recommend that you do not export and import your data and instead run the Discovery Tool from Application Modernization Accelerator.

  • You cannot reuse any access key that you have with Transformation Advisor. Application Modernization Accelerator comes with a trial access key by default. To get the full capabilities of Application Modernization Accelerator, you must obtain a new access key specifically for it.

Install Application Modernization Accelerator

You cannot convert Transformation Advisor directly to Application Modernization Accelerator. You must install Application Modernization Accelerator.

Optional: Export data from Transformation Advisor

As an optional step, you can choose to export your existing data from Transformation Advisor.

Optional: Import data into Application Modernization Accelerator

If you have exported your data from Transformation Advisor, you can then import your data into Application Modernization Accelerator.

Optional: Execute the Discovery Tool

There are several scenarios where it makes sense to execute the Discovery Tool for Application Modernization Accelerator, such as:

  • If you have not imported your data from Transformation Advisor.

  • If you have imported your data from Transformation Advisor and Application Modernization Accelerator advises that additional capabilities are available if you run the Discovery Tool.

  • If you have additional systems that need scanning and were not included in the data that you imported.

Get and upload a new access key

The access key from the Transformation Advisor is not compatible with Application Modernization Accelerator.
