Creating the subcapacity data files on the z/TPF system
Use this procedure to create subcapacity data files on the z/TPF file system.
- Enter the ZSUBC command with the INITIALIZE parameter specified to format the subcapacity data in the internal structures and to write the formatted data to the z/TPF file system.
- Enter the ZSUBC command with the KEEP parameter specified to enable this process across the central processor complex (CPC).
Note: Subcapacity data files are not created if a value of 0 is specified for the KEEP
parameter.
Subcapacity data files are created daily in the z/TPF file system in a predefined directory called
/IBMsubcapacity. One file (per LPAR) will hold subcapacity data for a one-day
period, and each file is updated at the beginning of each hour with an SCRT89 record (which
represents the utilization for that hour) and when the z/TPF system cycles down to 1052 state. Each file name is unique
and includes the following information: - The machine type
- The plant of manufacture
- The serial number of the machine where the subcapacity data file was created
- The name of the logical partition (LPAR) that created the file
- The date that the file was created. The format of the date is mmddyyyy.
The following example shows the file name for a subcapacity file that was created on May 31, 2005:
/IBMsubcapacity/MachineType_Plant_Serial#_TPFP1234_05312005.scr
