Prebuilt agents

Prebuilt agents on IBM watsonx Orchestrate are ready-to-use templates designed to perform specific business tasks by integrating with enterprise systems and applications. They accelerate adoption by providing predefined workflows, tool integrations, and AI capabilities that you can reuse or customize.

Before you begin

  • To ensure agents and tools function reliably, connect your apps using valid credentials and follow the required configuration steps. Incorrect setup prevents agents and tools from responding or performing as expected. See Connecting apps for prebuilt agents for more details.

  • Verify that the agent is available in your deployment environment. Some prebuilt agents are not available in every environment. See Prebuilt agent feature parity across deployments for a complete compariso

Viewing a prebuilt agent

When you select an agent from the catalog, the details page opens with two main tabs: Overview and Configuration details. These tabs help you understand what the agent does and how it is set up.

You may also see a Use as template action, which lets you create a custom agent based on the selected one.

Agent overview

The Overview tab gives you a clear summary of the agent and the resources it uses.

Tools

The Tools section lists all the tools the agent uses. You can browse the list or use the search bar to look for specific tools. Each tool entry includes a short explanation of what the tool does and the application it connects to.

Agents

Some agents can delegate tasks to other agents. The Agents section displays these collaborator agents when they are available. If the selected agent has no collaborators, the section displays an empty‑state message.
