Messages

All messages generated by the Automated Tape Allocation Manager (ATAM) started task, entries on ATAM’s screens, or issues with ISPF are listed in this appendix. A description of each message and suggestions on how you can resolve the problem are provided, where possible. For easier reading, IBM Tivoli Automated Tape Allocation Manager for z/OS is referred to as "ATAM" in this appendix.

Several of the messages use variables to indicate different types of information. Each message explains what the variables represent for that specific message. For example, xxxx could represent a name, a command, or a number, depending upon the context of the message.

All messages have a severity code printed as the last character of the message ID. The severity codes are described in the following table:

Severity Code Description
I Information only. No action required.
W Warning message. Results may not be as expected.
E Error message. Some may be user-correctable. Read the User Response to determine the course of action.
D Operator intervention required.
