Defining the enterprise environment

When setting up the first project, your enterprise vocabulary is initialized with the content of the released IBM Industry Models vocabulary so that you can start from existing business definitions.

Before you begin

The IBM Industry Models glossary archive must be imported in IGC as described in Importing the vocabulary into Information Governance Catalog (IGC).

Before starting the first project, initialize the vocabulary components that are delivered with the IBM Industry Models release, and create your own enterprise vocabulary components, such as ABC Company Glossary, that evolve with the customized and harvested content from each project. This is a one-off task.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Information Governance Catalog Web Client using an administrator role.
  2. Update the first-level category name to identify your enterprise vocabulary.
    1. In the Catalog > Glossary tab, click Browse > Category Hierarchy.
    2. Select the root category, such as Industry Model Business Vocabulary, and click Edit.
    3. Edit the category name to identify your enterprise vocabulary, such as ABC Company Business Vocabulary.

Results

This creates your enterprise vocabulary, which is ready for customization.
