Scoping terms

Scoping is the act of identifying a subset of elements within a larger set. When you scope terms in Information Governance Catalog (IGC), create a category to hold references to all the terms that are part of your scope. The category represents a view of your scope.

Procedure

  1. Create a category with the name of the scope under the Scopes category.
    Note: If no scopes category exists create one.
  2. Add references to terms that are part of the scope of your category.
    1. Select the Scope Category you want to add a term to and click edit.
    2. Within the Terms property of the Category, type the term you want to add to the Scope in the text box provided for the References Business Terms property, and select the term from the suggested list.

    3. Click Save and the term is now added to the scope.
