Global Data Synchronization architecture

The Global Data Synchronization feature of IBM® Product Master architecture consists of the supply and demand sides. Organizations that create and own data are on the supply side, and the consumers of the data are on the demand side. The two sides communicate through third-party entities called data pools.

Architecture of the Global Data Synchronization feature of IBM Product Master.

Supply Side (Supplier)

AS2 Product
The software application that communicates with the source data pool by sending and receiving XML documents by using the secure AS2 protocol. This software application is a distinct product that you must purchase, install, and configure separately.
Supply side Global Data Synchronization feature
The feature of Product Master that is responsible for synchronizing item data with retailers.
IBM Product Master
The enterprise Product Information Management (PIM) solution that is used to manage, link, and synchronize item, location, organization, trading partner, and trade terms data.
Supplier Content Repository
The database on the supply side that is used to store item, location, organization, trading partner, and trade terms data.
Legacy Systems
Software systems that run in parallel to the Global Data Synchronization feature of Product Master for other functions such as accounting and inventory management. These systems exchange data with the Global Data Synchronization feature.

Global Data Synchronization Network

Source Data Pool
Suppliers publish data to this data pool.
Other Data Pools
Data pools other than the data pool that a certain pair of supplier and retailer subscribe to. Suppliers and recipients might subscribe to one or more data pools.
Recipient Data Pool
Recipients subscribe to this data pool and consume data that is published by the suppliers.

Demand Side (Retailer)

AS2 Product
The software application that communicates with the recipient data pool by sending and receiving XML documents by using the secure AS2 protocol. This software application is a distinct product that you must purchase, install, and configure separately.
Demand side Global Data Synchronization feature
The feature of Product Master that is responsible for synchronizing data with the supplier.
