Updating a Db2 for z/OS source definition for Data Gate for watsonx

Follow the steps in this section to edit and update a Db2 for z/OS data source definition.

About this task

The following procedure does not apply to VSAM or IMS data sources.

Procedure

  1. Make sure that the Cloud Pak for Data perspective is selected. If necessary, click Icon (button) to change the perspective to change the perspective.
  2. On the side bar, click Instances.
You see the Service instances page. All instances are listed in the Name column.
  3. Locate the row representing the instance that you want to view. Click the Open instance icon icon in that row. You might have to scroll to the right.
You see the dashboard of your instance.
  4. On the dashboard, next to the label Source, click Edit icon (pencil).
A page with the title Edit source for data-gate-instance-name opens. The Define source tab is in front.
  5. You can now change the values under the headings Source database, Log reader, and TLS certificate.
Important: If the source database changes, the newly configured Db2 for z/OS subsystem must have activated a valid Db2 Connect license (see Activating the Db2 Connect Unlimited license on a Db2 for z/OS subsystem).
Note: Regardless of the changes you make, you must always provide the TLS key again, even if the TLS certificate remains unchanged. If you change the hostname or IP address of the source database, exercise caution to help ensure the new address points to the same database as the old one. Changing the source database to a different one leads to unpredictable errors.
For a description of the fields and controls, see the steps 1 through 7 in Configuring a Data Gate for watsonx instance for Db2 for z/OS data sources.
  6. Click Continue.
The Select tables tab is in front.
  7. Select schemas and tables for your changed data source.
See step 11 and 12 in Configuring a Data Gate for watsonx instance for Db2 for z/OS data sources for a description of the fields and controls.
  8. Click Continue.
The Finish tab is in front, and you see a summary of your settings. For a description of the items on the Finish page, see the steps 13 and 14 in Configuring a Data Gate for watsonx instance for Db2 for z/OS data sources.
  9. Click the Finish button at the bottom of the page when ready.
Important: The configuration process might take several minutes to complete. Do not close the Configure page during that time.
