Skipping configured enforcement actions on Important devices

In IBM® MaaS360®, administrators can mark a device as Important using the Important Device (Skip Enforcement Action) attribute. When this attribute is enabled, enforcement actions are not applied to the device, even if it becomes noncompliant.

The Important Device (Skip Enforcement Action) attribute provides administrators with the flexibility to exempt specific devices from enforcement actions. This capability is useful for devices that are critical to business operations and require special handling when compliance issues arise. When a device is marked as important, IBM MaaS360 continues to monitor the device's compliance status but does not execute any configured enforcement actions, even when the device becomes Out Of Compliance (OOC). This ensures that critical devices remain operational while administrators address compliance issues through alternative means. Follow these steps to enable Important Device (Skip Enforcement Action):
  1. From the IBM MaaS360 Portal home page, locate the Important device.
  2. Click device record and go to Summary > Customer Attributes.
  3. Select the Important Device (Skip Enforcement Action) attribute and set the value Yes.
  4. Click Save to save the changes.
The device now skips the enforcement actions, even if it becomes Out Of Compliance (OOC).
