Data security settings metrics
The Data security settings metrics provide statistics that define which data security settings are enabled in the MaaS360® policies for devices that are managed by an organization.
The following security settings are provided in the Data security settings
generated report:
- Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for email
- Restrict File Export
- Actions for Out of Compliance (OOC)
- Restrict copy-paste
- Restrict jail-broken or rooted Devices
Viewing a generated report
The Data security settings generated report shows the percentage of devices with secure data in the MaaS360 Community and in the My Devices community. This percentage is based on the number of devices that use policies that are enabled with the data security settings.
To view a Data security settings report, choose one of the following
communities:
- MaaS360 Community
- My Devices community
Viewing an example of the metrics in a generated report
In the following example, the Data security settings metrics provide
statistics on an organization in the Consumer or Retail industry that includes both a small and a
large deployment of devices:

In the MaaS360 Community, the following statistics apply:
- All the devices enforced the SSL for Email security setting. All data on the devices is secure.
- Only 35% of the devices enforced the Restrict File Export security setting that does not allow files to be exported from the device.
- Only 40% of the devices enforced the Actions for OOC security setting that defines what actions to take if the device is out of compliance.
- Only 28% of the devices enforced the Restrict copy-paste security setting that does not allow text to be copied and pasted from a device.
- Only 75% of the devices enforced the Restrict jail-broken/Rooted devices security setting.
In the My Devices community, the following statistics apply:
- All the devices enforced the SSL for Email security setting. All data on the devices is secure.
- All the devices enforced the Restrict File Export security setting that does not allow files to be exported from the device.
- None of the devices enforced the Actions for OOC security setting that defines what actions to take if the device is out of compliance.
- All the devices enforced the Restrict copy-paste security setting that does not allow text to be copied and pasted from a device.
- All the devices enforced the Restrict jail-broken/Rooted devices security setting.
The statistics that are provided in the example illustrate how to work with metrics across various industries and with different deployment sizes. Use this data as a guide to improving the security and efficiency of your mobile environment.
