Enabling Mobile Threat Defense Advanced service

Information about enabling the IBM® MaaS360® Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) Advanced service is in the IBM MaaS360 Portal.

About this task

With IBM MaaS360, you can enable the Mobile Threat Defense Advanced service to prevent, detect, and monitor threats on iOS and Android devices.

Important: The Mobile Threat Defense offering supports both iOS and Android Enterprise devices.

Procedure

  1. From the IBM MaaS360 Portal Home page, select Setup > Services.
  2. Go to Endpoint Security and select Mobile Threat Defense - Advanced.

Results

  • The MaaS360 MTD app is automatically added to the App Catalog in IBM MaaS360 Portal.
  • The required app configurations are automatically applied to the MaaS360 MTD app in IBM MaaS360 Portal.
Attention: If the Android Enterprise integration completes before you enable the service, MaaS360 MTD app for Android is added to the App Catalog with the required app configurations. Otherwise, MaaS360 MTD app is added only after the Android Enterprise integration.
  • The risk rules for the MaaS360 MTD app are added to the Security > Security Management > Risk Rule Configurator dashboard.
  • If your organization is using Apple's Volume Purchase Program (VPP) to manage app distribution, you must ensure that the VPP license for the MaaS360 MTD app is correctly allocated within MaaS360. This enables MaaS360 to deploy the MaaS360 MTD app seamlessly to devices without requiring individuals to download or purchase from the store. For more information, see Adding and updating the Apple VPP token in MaaS360.
  • The following items are created and the admin must not modify or delete them. These items are created for the functioning of MTD.
