Configuring MDM policy for MTD on Android device

Use VPN settings to configure the Virtual Private Network (VPN) on an Android device. The steps to configure the default MDM policy setting for IBM® MaaS360® Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) for Android devices are as follows.

Before you begin

Important: Make sure that the Android agent version is 8.70 or later.

Procedure

  1. From the IBM MaaS360 Portal Home page, select Security > Policy Management > Policies.
  2. Find the required Android MDM Policy and click View.
  3. Select VPN settings and click Edit.
  4. Select the Enable Always on VPN checkbox.
  5. Select MaaS360 MTD VPN from the list of VPN lists in the VPN type and click Next.
  6. On the Assignments page, review the assignment summary, and click Next.
  7. Review the changes on the Review changes page and click Publish.

Results

The Default Android MDM Policy is configured successfully on the Android device.
Important: Simultaneous multiple VPN connections are not supported on Android. Therefore, if you use the MTD app which deploys a VPN to monitor the traffic, you cannot use another VPN concurrently.
