Data plane overview

This topic describes the purpose and structure of the Data Plane in a Db2® Warehouse SaaS BYOC deployment.

The Data Plane resides within the your Azure tenant and hosts the components responsible for processing your data.

You will retain full ownership of the security posture and access controls for your Azure environment.

IBM manages the deployment and lifecycle of the service components that run within your account.

The Data Plane is where customer-deployed Engine instances are provisioned. The Db2 Warehouse SaaS Console used to interact with these Engine instances is also part of the Data Plane.

Each Data Plane is isolated within its own Virtual Network (VNet), providing network-level segmentation and control. You can deploy multiple Engine instances within a single Data Plane, depending on their workload and scaling needs.
