Should I send or share?
Sending files and folders using the Packages app and sharing folders in your Files app both initiate a FASP (fast, adaptable, secure, predictable) transfer. However, there are important distinctions between sending content and sharing content using Aspera on Cloud.
Quick start: Share a folder from your Files app repo
You can share folders in your Files app. When you share folders, you give your recipients direct access to your source material. You also give each recipient a specific permission to access the folder contents.
Unshare a folder
You may need to remove a colleague's access to a folder you shared with them. You can unshare a folder, whether your colleague has access as a folder collaborator or via a shared link.
Upload files and folders to the Files app
You can upload files and folders to the Files app. Once you upload a folder, or upload a file to a folder in your Files app, you can share the folder with other users, giving them access to your source material.
Download from the Files app
You can download files and folders from your Files app.
Sharing permissions
When you share a folder, you assign specific access permission to each recipient. Similarly, when someone shares a folder with you, they grant you specific access permission. You can act on the shared content based on the permission assigned.
Which permissions do I have?
The permission you have to a given file or folder depends upon how you gained access to it.
