Reason-for-work definitions
Reason-for-work (RFW) codes identify the reason that work is done. To prioritize work, a matrix priority is applied to the RFW according to the priority of the work asset or location. A matrix index is applied to further refine the priority of work that has the same matrix priority.
The following list shows sample reason-for-work definitions:

- Imminent danger. The work is associated with an event that poses an imminent danger to life or health.
- rfwCode5
- Safety. The work is to rectify a situation that has a high potential for injury or exposure to injury.
- rfwCode4
- Environmental. The work is associated with an immediate danger to the environment. This work includes tasks to prevent an impact on reputation.
- rfwCode3
- Process improvement. The work is a small or medium-sized project, or a minor environmental or safety job that is not urgent.
- rfwCode2
- Facility maintenance. The work is to maintain the condition or appearance of a facility.
- rfwCode1
- Housekeeping. The work is associated with routine housekeeping, cleaning, or administrative work, or nonemergency meetings or training.
