Classifying regulations
Classify a regulation by linking it to a predefined classification. The addition of classification details to a regulation makes it simpler to manage regulations in accordance with plant and industry standards.
Before you begin
A classification must be set up for use with regulations.
About this task
You classify a regulation by using the Classification field on the Specifications tab of the regulation record.
If the classification belongs to a hierarchy, the associated classification path is shown in the Classification field, from the top-level node in the hierarchy down to the selected node. Attributes that belong to the selected classification, and are associated with the same organization and site, are automatically added to the Specifications table. Attributes that belong to another site or organization can be manually added to the Specifications table.
Procedure
- In the Regulatory Compliance application, open the regulation record that you want to classify.
- On the Specifications tab, click Detail Menu on the Classification field and then select an option to retrieve the essential classification.
- Save the record.

After you classify a regulation record, you can develop regulation specifications.
