Creating qualifications

To track the qualifications associated with labor, you create qualifications and certification requirements for qualifications.

Before you begin

To add a permit and certificate type when you create a qualification record, you must first create the permit and certificate type record in the Permit and Certificates application. The combination of organization, site, and permit and certificate type must be unique. Additionally, the permit and certificate record must be a personal certification. That is, the permit and certificate record is associated with a person in the People application, and the Personal checkbox is selected.

Procedure

  1. In the Qualifications application, click New Qualification.
  2. Optional: If the Qualification field is blank, enter a qualification identifier.
  3. Optional: Enter a description of the qualification.
  4. Specify the type of qualification.
  5. Optional: Provide this information for the certificate:
    1. If a certificate is essential for the qualification, select the Certificate Required checkbox.
    2. Specify the identifier of the permit and certificate type, and a description of the type of permit or certificate that is essential.
    3. Specify values such as duration period and essential use period.
  6. Optional: In the Required Craft and Skill Levels window, click New Row to specify prerequisite crafts for the qualification.
  7. Optional: In the Tools That Require This Qualification window, click New Row to specify tools that require operators to have this qualification.
  8. Save the qualification record.

What to do next

Some qualifications must be renewed periodically. You use the Extend/Renew Qualification function in the Associated Labor tab to renew an existing qualification for a qualification record.
