Creating management of change records

You create management of change records to implement changes to existing assets, and to manage the process from start to finish.

Procedure

  1. In the MOC application, click the New MOC icon.
  2. Complete all the essential fields (*) and the remaining fields, as needed. Typically, you need to complete the following fields on the main tab of the application.
    Field Description
Priority If you plan to schedule the work, specify a priority for the change.
Location, Asset, Configuration Item, or Item You can create the management of change record for a location, an asset, a configuration item, or for an item.
Operating Policy and Operating Procedure Specify the operating policy that is associated with the management of change record. You can also specify an operating procedure. The operating policy and the operating procedure must be in Active status.
Estimated Duration Specify the estimated remaining number of hours needed to complete the work.
MOC Type Specify the type of management of change record, such as deferral or MOC, and if the change is temporary or high risk.
Multiple Assets, Locations, and CIs Specify the primary affected asset, location, and configuration item in the designated fields. Then, you can specify multiple related assets, locations, and configuration items in the Multiple Assets, Locations, and CIs window. For example, a service bulletin that requires engineering approval to implement might apply to the same type of valve used in multiple locations. You might create a management of change record, linked to each location that uses the valve, to manage the change for all of the valves.
  3. Save the record.
  4. Optional: Use the additional tabs in the MOC application to add or modify information for this record. Save the record after you make additions or changes.
For example, to specify the risks associated with this change, use the Projects and Risks tab.
