MOC application

You can start the management of change (MOC) process by creating an MOC request, or you can initiate the process directly in the MOC application. The MOC application controls the full cycle of the change, from review and approval through authorization and closure.

You can associate multiple assets, locations, and configuration items with an MOC, and you can classify MOC records.

To better manage work order deferrals of safety-critical equipment, the references to any safety-critical elements are copied over to the MOC record from the associated location.

If an MOC requires follow-up tickets or work orders, you can generate the following types of records from this application:
  • Action
  • Communication
  • Improvement
  • Incident
  • Investigation
  • Management of change
  • Management of change request
  • Release
  • Risk Assessment
  • Service request
  • Work order

Some organization-level MOC options must be specified before this application is used. To specify those options, select Oil and Gas/HSE Manager Shared Options from the More Actions menu in the Organizations application.

Templates for frequently used MOC records

When you use the same types of MOC records, a template ensures a consistent process and format.

You can create a template from an existing bypass management record. Using the List tab, search for an MOC record that corresponds to your current goals, and specify the record as a template. You can also create an MOC record from an existing template using the More Actions > Create MOC from Template option.

When you create a record from an existing MOC record, only certain fields and their values are duplicated. Those fields and their values are copied from the originating record to the new record. Templates remain in Draft status.
