Creating management of change request records

A management of change (MOC) request is used to formally propose an engineering or operational change. You create management of change (MOC) request records to initiate changes to assets, locations, configuration items, or items.

1. In the MOC Requests application, click the New MOC Request icon.
2. Complete all the essential fields (*) and the remaining fields, as needed. Typically, you must complete the following fields on the main tab of the application.

   Field	Description
   Priority	If you plan to schedule the work, specify a priority for the change.
   Location, Asset, Configuration Item, or Item	You can create the management of change record for a location, an asset, a configuration item, or for an item.
   Operating Policy and Operating Procedure	Specify the operating policy that is associated with the management of change request record. You can also specify an operating procedure. The operating policy and the operating procedure must be in Active status.
   MOC Type	Specify the type of management of change request, such as deferral or MOC, and if the change is temporary or high risk.
   Multi Assets, Locations, and CIs	Specify the primary affected asset, location, and configuration item in the designated fields. Then, you can specify multiple related assets, locations, and configuration items in the Multi Assets, Locations, and CIs window. For example, a service bulletin that requires engineering approval to implement might apply to the same type of valve that is used in multiple locations. You might create a management of change request record, linked to each location that uses the valve, to manage the change for all of the valves.

3. Save the record.
4. Optional: Use the additional tabs in the MOC Requests application to add or modify information for this record. Save the record.
   For example, to specify the work orders or the tickets that are associated with this request, use the Related Records tab.
