Operator logs and workflow processes
With Workflow features, you can automate repetitive business and record management processes. The Workflow application provides a means for greater efficiency and accountability throughout your enterprise. You use this application to plan, design, build, test, implement, and manage workflow processes.
You can create workflow processes that reflect your business processes. A workflow process defines the actions and the notifications that can occur at different points in a business process. You can manage the movement of a record through a process from start to finish. You can instruct individuals to act on records, ensure that individuals act in a timely manner, and ensure that an audit trail exists for each record and process.
For example, you can create a workflow process to route an operator log to a qualified engineer when the Regulatory option is checked on a log entry. When checked, the Regulatory option indicates that the log has regulatory implications that might need to be reviewed by a manager or by an engineer. The event that generated the log entry needs to be monitored by a responsible person. Reviewing the regulation helps your enterprise to comply with guidelines, standards, and legal requirements.
Another example would be to create a workflow process that would initiate when one shift is complete and another shift is starting. The workflow process might be driven through a workflow assignment from the outgoing shift leader to the incoming shift leader. Part of that workflow process might include a notification to the incoming shift leader to review the updated communications logs.
