Ensuring that assets conform to standards by recording test results

To ensure that assets conform to industry standards, you can specify readings that are associated with tests, and record the values. If an asset conforms to industry standards, you can award a certificate that is associated with that piece of equipment. You can also record the test results for locations.

Procedure

  1. In the Certifications application, open the certification record for which you want to specify readings and record test results.
  2. In the Readings section of the Readings tab, specify and describe each reading.
  3. Select the type of reading, the person who took the reading, and when the reading occurred.
  4. Specify the values that you are recording for the test that is administered, and the type of unit.
  5. Specify whether the reading met the requirements of the test.
  6. Save the record.

Example

For a material test certificate that applies to a pressure vessel, you might want to record the results of a proof test. A proof test measures the amount of stress that a vessel can handle.
