Certifications
A certification record contains the details that are used to verify that standards for assets or locations are met. You use certifications to ensure that assets or locations meet or exceed standards of quality and of safety. You also use certifications to make sure that personnel are qualified for specialized tasks. Using certifications helps to ensure the safety of the plant and its personnel.

Certifications and workflow processes
You can create workflow processes that reflect your business processes. A workflow process defines the actions and notifications that can occur at different points in a business process. You can manage the movement of a record through a process from start to finish. You can instruct individuals to act on records, specify delegates when workers are not available, and ensure that individuals act in a timely manner. You can also ensure that an audit trail exists for each record. You use the Workflow application to plan, design, build, test, implement, and manage workflow processes.
You can include a certification record as an interaction node in a workflow process. For example, you might want to make sure that a certification record is reviewed and approved. When a certification record applies to an asset or to a location, the test results are verified to ensure that the essential standards are met. You might also want to ensure that a person has the qualifications that are needed for a specific task.
Certifications and standard actions
You can create a checklist of actions that are associated with certification records. You might decide that a certification record is not ready to be approved until tests are carried out, and the item that is tested passes the inspection. You can also assign an action group to do the checklist of actions.
You can add review actions and their associated review items to a certification. You can also add a summary of the review actions for a certification.
Example
The purchase of an electrical transformer requires the acknowledgment that high-voltage tests were conducted. Certificates that tests were conducted are provided as part of the purchase of the electrical transformer. An Electrical Engineer might want to review the results of the tests and confirm that the product-provided certificates are acceptable. When the tests are confirmed, the certificates are associated with the asset by using the Certifications application. The certificates can also be attached to the asset record.
