Sharing server configuration

Use a shared configuration to rapidly deploy and maintain multiple IBM® z/OS® Connect Servers.

Started task Applies to z/OS Connect Servers run by using a z/OS started task procedure.

You can have many z/OS Connect Servers configured, for example, to manage workload or provide high availability.

To avoid the need to manually edit multiple z/OS Connect Server configuration files with the same content each time an update is required, you can share a configuration file between the z/OS Connect Servers. Sharing a configuration file simplifies administration and maintenance because only a single file needs to be updated and ensures that all servers are using the same configuration. To use a shared configuration file between servers, you must consider the following aspects:
  • The mechanisms that allow server configuration to be split into multiple files.
  • Which configuration elements can be shared and which elements must be server-specific.
  • Where to store the shared configuration file.

The following topics describe how to set up a shared configuration.
