The IBM UrbanCode Sync utility

The IBM® IBM UrbanCode™ Sync utility coordinates communication between IBM UrbanCode™ Release and IBM UrbanCode Deploy integrated with IBM Cloud Services and Bluemix Services. After you configure IBM UrbanCode Sync, IBM UrbanCode Release and Deploy mobile users can complete approvals and run manual tasks on their mobile devices.

You download IBM UrbanCode Sync from IBM developerWorks, and install it on a computer that has access to the product that you want to integrate with, such as IBM UrbanCode Release.

The IBM UrbanCode Sync utility has the plug-ins for IBM UrbanCode Release and IBM UrbanCode Deploy already installed. You can install new plug-ins or update existing ones by using the IBM UrbanCode Sync web-based dashboard.

After you install the utility, create integrations for the installed plug-ins. Integrations run periodically and sync data between the integrated products and the IBM Cloud Services. Integrations use encrypted SSL connections and store data in encrypted databases. IBM UrbanCode Sync encrypts the data before providing it to IBM UrbanCode Release and Deploy mobile users.

When integrations run, eligible first-time users receive email invitations to download and register the IBM UrbanCode Release and Deploy mobile application. The email contains a link where users can download the app, and an access code to register their mobile application. After they register, mobile users receive deployment data from the cloud-based service. For information about registering the mobile app, see Configuring the IBM UrbanCode Release and Deploy mobile application.

The first time that you run IBM UrbanCode Sync, register it by using your IBM ID. You cannot use IBM UrbanCode Sync until you register it. IBM UrbanCode Sync generates a unique ID and receives a token that together forms its credentials. The credentials are used to establish secure connections and store configuration information and data in the cloud. IBM UrbanCode Sync uses SSL to communicate with the cloud services. The IBM UrbanCode Sync web-based dashboard also uses SSL.
