Setting up and pairing Console-only DR

To set up and pair the Console-only DR feature, complete the following steps:

  • Login into the main site, start the Data Synchronization app and configure the main site. For more information, see Editing the configuration of the main site and destination site.
  • To specify console-only DR configuration, enable the toggle button on the main site configuration screen. This toggle enables console-only configuration on the main site.
  • To enable apps-restoration functionality, turn on the App restore toggle button on the main site configuration screen. This toggle enables application restoration as part of the failover and failback process.
    Note: App restoration is only supported when the apps are installed on the Console for appliance type setup. The app restoration is not supported for apps migrated on an App Host.
  • Login into the destination site, start the Data Synchronization app and configure the destination site. For more information, see Editing the configuration of the main site and destination site.
  • To pair the main and destination site console, select the console and click the pair. The available console ID for the destination site appears. Select the console IP and proceed with pairing. A dialog box appears prompting you to run pairing command on the main site console and destination site console. This pair process maps entire deployment from the main site to a destination site that contains only a console.
  • To confirm that the pairing is successfully established:
    1. Log in as the "admin" user and take a fresh backup from both the main site console and the destination site console: Admin > Backup and Recovery > On Demand Backup.
    2. Log in as the root user on the console server and take fresh volume backup of applications on both the main site console and the destination site.
    3. Ensure that the backups created in Step 1 are transferred between the main and destination consoles. Then, open the Backup and Recovery window to verify whether the transferred backups are visible. If the transferred backups are not visible, refresh the Backup and Recovery window.
    4. For app restoration, ensure that the backups created in Step 2 are successfully transferred between the main site and the destination site.
