Securing your data source

For your data source, assign users or groups the appropriate access to data and authorization privileges.

About this task

To allow a user access to data items from your data source on a map or list in the user interface, assign the required access level. The list that is provided contains the users and groups that are defined by the administrator for the system. The default access is read and write access for the creator of the data source only, and no access for other users.

Administrators have read and write access to every data source.

Users or groups who have read-only access can view data items, and can update data items in fields that can be updated. Users or groups who have read and write access have the same access as users with read-only access, but they can also configure the data source if they have access to the data sources configuration tool. Only users or groups with write access can create a data item for the data source from the More Actions menu on the taskbar.
