Managing third-party databases

If you host extra databases on the IBM® Intelligent Operations Center data server, you must ensure that these databases are configured, maintained, and used in an optimal manner. As these extra databases are sharing resources with the core IBM Intelligent Operations Center databases, any performance issue with these databases negatively impacts the performance of IBM Intelligent Operations Center.

Install any extra databases in the same instance as the IBM Intelligent Operations Center databases. DB2® is optimized to run a single instance on a database server. To run multiple instances, you must adjust some instance-level configuration parameters to ensure that each database instance is allocated and uses a fair portion of available resources.
