Draft items and normal items
Draft items are not real record items in the live host ERP or EAM data source system and do not reflect any information that is in the host ERP or EAM data source system. However, they do provide utility in preparing initial stocking levels for new items and items being considered.
Draft items are similar to normal items and you can update, save, and revert changes. You can also cycle through a number of states, depending on what actions occurred.
Draft items also have a similar structure to normal items, allowing for the calculation and recalculation of recommended stocking levels.
After Draft Items are created and loaded their attributes will be available for editing, allowing the user to experiment with a number of possible scenarios. For information on creating draft items, see Creating draft items.
Draft items may also be edited in the Draft Item Grid View or Form View in the same manner as normal items. For information on modifying draft items, see Modifying, recalculating and saving draft items draft items. Unlike normal items however, draft item records contain extra fields that you can edit manually.
Other differences with draft items, compared with normal items, are outlined as follows:
- You cannot attach other media, attachments, or notes.
- Draft items contain two additional data fields that are not found in actual item records:
- Record create type
- Item type
- The item type indicates how the item was created. The possible values for this field are 'D' (for 'Defaults'), 'E' (for 'Existing') and'F' (for 'File').
- Batch name
- When a new batch of draft records is created, you can manually assign that batch name, which easily identifies the batch and relevant info such as its creation date, creation process, and purpose.
- A batch name must be unique, otherwise you cannot save the new batch of records until you specify a unique name.
- Statistics are captured for all draft items. For more information, see Draft item statistics.
