Performing a service processor dump by using the management console
A service processor dump is a collection of data from a service processor either after a failure, external reset, or manual request. You can use the management console to perform a service processor dump.
About this task
Use this procedure only under the direction of your next level of support or your service provider, after you provide a dump of the operating system to your next level of support or service provider.
To start a service processor dump on a Hardware Management Console
(HMC), complete the following steps:
- In the navigation area, click .
- In the Service Management window, click Manage Dumps.
- Select the server name from the drop down menu in the system field of the Dumps window.
- Click the Initiate Dump button, and select the Initiate System Controller Dump option in the drop down menu, then click OK. The dump is automatically saved to the HMC. For details on how to copy, report, or delete a dump after you complete a dump, see Managing dumps.
