Secure data deletion for devices by using stand-alone diagnostics
Use stand-alone diagnostics to complete secure data deletion for disk drives, solid-sate drives, NVMe devices, and RDX removable disk drives.
About this task
Secure data deletion for disk drives, solid-state drives, NVMe devices, and RDX removable disk
drives can be completed by using stand-alone diagnostics on 9008-22L, 9009-22A,
9009-41A, 9009-42A, 9040-MR9, 9080-M9S, 9223-22H, and
9223-42H systems.
Note: If your system is a 9008-22L or if your system has only IFL processor cores, one of the
IFL processor cores must be converted to a general-purpose processor core to load and run
stand-alone diagnostics. For more information about running stand-alone diagnostics on systems that
have only IFL processor cores, see the Diagnostics for systems that have only Power IFL processor
cores section in the General diagnostic information
topic.
If your system has 2 GB of memory or more, use the AIX®
7.2 stand-alone diagnostics ISO image CD7241.iso, or later. Otherwise, use the AIX 7.1 based diagnostics ISO image CD71541.iso, or later. You can
download the ISO image for stand-alone diagnostics from the Standalone Diagnostics CD website.
Note: AIX
stand-alone diagnostics can be used to complete secure data deletion for devices from IBM®
AIX, IBM i, or Linux® partitions.
