Setting up a console

Complete the required setup tasks for your console configuration.

To learn more about setting up a console, perform the following steps:
  1. Go to the IBM® i Knowledge Center website (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i) and select from the following versions to access the specific knowledge center:
    • Version 7.3
    • Version 7.2
    • Version 7.1
  2. Follow one of the navigation options depending on the version of the IBM i operating system:
    • If you are accessing IBM i Version 7.2 or IBM i Version 7.3 information, click IBM i overview and what's new > Connecting to your system > IBM i Access > IBM i Access Client Solutions > Getting started with IBM i Access Client Solutions.
      Note: In the product Getting Started document, see section "9.9 Establishing a Console Connection to IBM i". For additional information about obtaining IBM i Access Client Solutions, see: IBM i Access Client Solutions (http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/i/access/solutions.html).
    • If you are accessing IBM i Version 7.1 information, click Overview and what's new > Connecting to your system > IBM i Access > IBM i Access for Windows > Operations Console > PC preparations for Operations Console.

After you have completed the prerequisite tasks, complete the following sections in order as they pertain to your configuration.
