Replacing the power switch and cable in the 8348-21C

Learn how to remove the power switch and cable in the IBM® Power® System S812LC (8348-21C) system.

1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap attached. If not, attach it now.
2. Using the alignment tab, insert the power switch card (A) and cable up and into the holder; replace the screw (B) to secure the power switch card, as shown in Figure 1.

3. Insert the power switch and cable into the chassis, as shown in Figure 2.

4. Align the power switch assembly with the pins on the inside of the chassis, then slide the power switch assembly to the rear to secure it to the pins, as shown in Figure 2.
5. Replace the two screws that secure the power switch assembly to the side of the chassis.
6. Replace the four screws that secure the power switch bezel and the handle, as shown in Figure 2.
7. Route the power switch cable through the chassis and secure the cable with the chassis clips.
8. Replace the front panel control cable in the system backplane, as shown in Figure 3.
