Learn more about the tasks you must perform to complete
your managed system installation.
If you have an Hardware Management Console (HMC), use it to complete
the following high-level tasks:
- Update the time of day on the managed system by using the Advanced
System Management Interface (ASMI).
- Check the firmware level on the managed system.
- If required, update the managed system firmware levels.
- Confirm that the system is in standby mode. The green power status
indicator on the front control panel is flashing slowly, and the dc
out indicator lights on the power supplies are flashing. If none of
the indicators are flashing, check the power cord connections.
- Power on the managed system.
- Create logical partitions (or virtual servers), or deploy an imported
system plan.
- Install an operating system, if it is not already installed.

If you do not have an HMC, complete the following tasks:
- Check the firmware level on the managed system and update the
time of day using ASMI.
- Confirm that the system is in standby mode. The green power status

the indicators are flashing, check the power cord connections.
- Power on the managed system.
- Install and update an operating system, if it is not already installed.
- Update the system firmware, if required.
