Replacing the 8231-E2B RAID/cache enablement card

Use this procedure to replace an existing Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID)/cache enablement card.

You must have already completed the procedure Removing the 8231-E2B RAID/cache enablement card.

To replace a RAID/cache enablement card, complete the following steps:

  1. Locate the slot for the RAID/cache enablement card.
  2. Align the RAID/cache enablement card with the slot in the system.
  3. Slide the RAID/cache enablement card fully into the system until the tab (A) locks into place.

  4. Replace the service access cover. For instructions, see Installing the service access cover for the system.
  5. For a rack-mounted system, put the system into the operating position. For instructions, see Placing the rack-mounted system into the operating position.
  6. Reconnect the power source.
  7. Start the system. For instructions, see Starting a system or logical partition.
  8. Verify the installed part or repair.
    • If you replaced the part because of a service action, verify the installed part. For instructions, see Verifying a repair.
    • If you installed the part for any other reason, verify the installed part. For instructions, see Verifying the installed part.
