Learn how to complete the changes to the PC by deleting
the old configuration and creating a new one.
To complete the PC changes, follow these steps:
- To delete the old configuration, perform these steps:
- Select the configuration name (under System i® Connection). This
is the name that Operations Console uses to refer to a specific server.
- From the Connection menu, click Disconnect.
The connection status displays Disconnecting.
- Wait for the status to display Disconnected.
- Select the configuration name (under System i Connection).
- From the Connection menu, click Delete. Optionally, you can press the Delete key.
- Click Yes to confirm the deletion
if prompted.
- Close and reopen Operations Console to purge the PC of
network data associated with the configuration you are changing.
Note: It is also suggested that you remove or alter the old
entry in the hosts file on the PC. You can
do a search for hosts and then use a text editor
to edit the file.
- Create a new configuration using the following steps:
- From the Connection menu, select New configuration.
- Continue the configuration and enter the new IP data
or service host name at the appropriate time.
- Complete the rest of the new configuration.
The PC is now ready to make a connection. If you have
already started the system, you are now ready to reconnect using the
new network data.
