Removal and replacement procedures

Problems on your managed system are reported to the management console as serviceable events. You can view the problem, manage problem data, call home the event to your service provider, or repair the problem. On a regular basis, you should review and close any open serviceable events that have been repaired on the management console.

Follow these steps to manage serviceable events on the Hardware Management Console (HMC):

  1. Open the Manage Serviceable Events task from the Service Management work pane.
  2. From the Manage Serviceable Events window, provide event criteria, error criteria, and field-replaceable unit (FRU) criteria. Alternatively, you can select All.
  3. Click OK when you have specified the criteria that you want for the serviceable events you want to view. A table is shown with the serviceable events that match your criteria.
Note: If you need additional information about managing events, use the online help on the HMC.

Follow these steps to manage serviceable events on the Systems Director Management Console (SDMC):

  1. From the main Service and Support Manager page, click Serviceable Problems within the Electronic Services Links list.
Tip: The Serviceable Problems window displays a filtered list of only those problems associated with systems that are monitored by Service and Support Manager. To view problems for all the systems managed by IBM Systems Director, click All Problems.
  2. Click the problem listed in the Name column that you want to work with. This will display the properties of the selected problem.
