Adding email settings

You can configure optional delivery settings on the Add Settings page.

About this task

Before you send your email, you can add or change settings if they are different from the values that are provided in the template. Some settings can be changed only if they are enabled for your organization and you have permission to change them.

Procedure

  1. On the Add Settings page, click Address Settings and provide values for the from name, from address, and reply to address fields.
Note: You can use personalization on any of these fields.
Important: Use the same domain for the from address and reply to address to avoid being blocked by ISPs.
  2. Set delivery options.
    • Inbox monitoring generates a report that identifies where contacts received specified emails. This setting is only available if the organization setting is not disabled.
    • Delivery optimization such as throttling and send time optimization (STO).

Use throttling to regulate the maximum number of emails sent each hour, which can control traffic to your website after large emails. Throttling is enabled based on the organization setting, database setting, and send hour field for STO.

    • Maximum number of messages per contact is a frequency control setting to limit the number of emails that are sent to contacts. You can change this setting only if you have permission.
    • Email body format in either HTML or text
    • The Use custom opt-out link option is available only if you have permission to change the opt-out link organization settings and there is more than one option.
    • Tagging is populated from the selected template. The list includes all tags that are available for your organization.
  3. To test different content, subject lines, and from names, click A/B Testing. Select the type of A/B test that you want to perform.
    • Subject line
    • From name
    • Multivariate
Note: You must select identical templates in all tabs.

With multivariate testing, you can test:

    • Combination of content testing and subject line or from name.
    • Combination of content testing and subject line and from name
    • Combination of subject line and from name
  4. If you use analytics for your website, you can use Integrations settings in the organization settings to add site analytics parameters to links in the email. The following values must be set:
    • Analytics package: If enabled, shows the analytics package for the organization.
    • Append string for links: Displays only when analytics integration is enabled for the organization and you have permission to change these settings.
    • Email specific parameter: Displays input data.
  5. To provide suppression settings, click Add Suppression List. Select the location (folder) and source, then click Done.
Note: You can add multiple suppression lists to an email.

Suppression lists prevent emails from being sent to addresses that are opted out, filed an abuse complaint, or are no longer valid. Suppression can occur for other reasons, such as an address that contains a domain or prefix that is on the email blocking list or an address that is on the global suppression list.

You can calculate the number of suppressed contacts in the contact source and view the results in the Suppression Details table.

  6. To post or schedule posts to Twitter and RSS feeds to coincide with your email send schedules, navigate to the Post to Social page and select the options.
Note: If Post to Social is not enabled, the Post to Social page is hidden.

For both scheduled emails and immediate sends, social network updates can include links to a click-to-view version of the sent email through selected social network accounts. You can also include messages that can be custom tailored for each social network.

Note: You cannot add personalization to the Post to Social settings within the send draft.
    1. Choose network: Only networks that are configured for your organization display.
    2. Choose profiles: Each social network has a limited number of profiles. This form indicates whether you reached the limit.
    3. Post fields: Depends on your social network. For example, to post to Twitter, the Write a Tweet field displays.
    4. Use a URL generated by Acoustic Campaign: You can show an offer in the post instead of in the email. Select this option to add a URL in the post. If this option is not selected, you must type a message in the designated field, such as Write a Tweet or Write an update.
    5. Use shortened links: Similar to Bit.ly links. This option appears only if configured by an organization administrator.
    6. Add to delivery: Moves your post to the ready for delivery staging area.
    7. Ready for delivery: View the post that coincides with your email.
