Installing the IBM Developer for z/OS client by using IBM Installation Manager

To install the IBM® Developer for z/OS® client by using IBM Installation Manager, do these steps.
  1. To verify that you meet all installation prerequisites and compatibility requirements, go to the Software Product Compatibility Reports.
    If you need to update Installation Manager, see the instructions in Updating Installation Manager.
    Tip: If you experience difficulty when you update IBM Installation Manager, try adding this update repository site to the Installation Manager Preferences.

  2. Open a browser on the Mainframe DEV Downloads page. If you are prompted with a notice that you are leaving the ibm.com® website, click the link in the notice.
  3. In the IBM Explorer for z/OS Aqua box, click Eclipse Tools. You might need to click > or < to scroll the box into view.
  4. Under Step 1: choose your products, select the check box beside IBM Developer for z/OS and click Select.
  5. Continue to follow the instructions in the wizard prompts to choose an Aqua version, the IBM Installation Manager installation client, and a starting point.
    Tip:
    • To see which versions of the product each version of Aqua supports, click View details.
    • To return to a previous step in the wizard, click the step in the sidebar. Do not use the browser Back control. The Back control returns to the Mainframe DEV Downloads page.

    After you select an Aqua version, the IBM Installation Manager installation client, and a starting point, the installation wizard guides you through the steps to download and install the client. These instructions vary according to how you are installing the product:
    • Installing IBM Installation Manager for the first time.
    • Extending an existing Installation Manager instance.
    • Hosting an internal Installation Manager repository that other users in your organization can use to install the product.
  6. Follow the instructions on the Download and install page to:
    • Choose a client platform (Windows, macOS, or Linux®)
    • Download an installation package
    • Copy a link to an installation repository
    • Install the product or set up an internal repository
    The license agreement opens in a new web page.
  7. Read the terms of the license agreements and click I agree. The client installation package is downloaded to the default download location of your workstation.
  8. Return to the Download and install page to complete the installation procedure described in the wizard.
