Dates and Number Display Formats

Dates and number formats are dependent on the locale and time zone that is selected.

Date format

The dates that are not included in the contract language are displayed in a format that is based on the locale and time zone of the user. However, the date values of terms in the contract language are based on the format of the term and are independent of their locale and time zone.

When you view a contract that was created in a different locale and time zone, the dates are displayed in your locale format except in the contract language. In the contract language, the dates are displayed in the format that is defined for the term.

Number format

Number formats differ according to geographies.

For example, in the United States, the number format that is used is 123, 456, 789.00. However, in France, the number format that is used is 123 456 789,00.

The number format is based on the format from the Java locale. It is not configurable in the manner that the short date format is configured. Sequence numbers, such as the contract number, are not affected by the locale of the user.

Users from different geographies can use number formats specific to their geographies by using the number formats provided in specific areas in the Emptoris® Contract Management application.

Note: Only Arabic number system is supported in Emptoris Contract Management.

The following table lists the specific areas that provide the specific number formats.

Table 1. Number formats
Area Information about the provided number format
Term

The tooltip of a term provides the information that the number format is associated with the locale that is selected by the user.

The format of numeric terms of checked-in terms is validated based on the locale that is associated with that term.

Contract language

The numeric value of terms is based on the locale that is selected for that term. Numbers in the language and comparison view appear in the same format, independent of the user's locale.

The numbers that are not in the contract language are displayed in the format of the user's locale. You can modify the display format for numbers by selecting any locale available in the system.

Contract line

The numeric values in the lines from a line clause are associated with the locale of the line clause.

Reports

The numeric values in the reports are based on the locale of the user who is running the reports.
