Opening a PMR

You can use the Open PMR page to create a Problem Management Record (PMR) to report a technical product issue.

A PMR is one of the documents that is used to manage technical product issues that are reported to IBM. You can create a PMR by using the Open PMR page if your system is under warranty or is covered under a maintenance agreement. If you do not know if your system is covered by a maintenance agreement, or want to purchase a maintenance agreement, contact your support representative or support in your country at https://www.ibm.com/planetwide/.

Note: Contact information is obtained through Call Home, so if Call Home is not configured, you cannot open a PMR.
Complete these steps to open a PMR:
  1. In the management GUI, select Settings > Support > Open PMR. The Open PMR page displays.
Note: You can also access the Open PMR page from the Setting icon in the management GUI, and by right-clicking anywhere on the Event page.
  2. Verify that the contact information that displays on the Open PMR page is correct.
If contact information is not displayed, configure Call Home.
    1. Click Set Up Call Home to display the Notifications page.
    2. Following the instructions to configure Call Home.
If the contact information that is displayed is not correct, edit the contact information.
    1. Click Edit and update the contact information. You can update the contact name, telephone number, and email address.
    2. Click Save to update the contact information in Call Home from the Open PMR page. Click Cancel to revert to the previous contact information.
  3. Enter a description of the technical issue in the Problem Description field. The problem description can be up to 120 characters. The number of available characters displays on the right and decreases as you type the description. The Problem Description field stops accepting characters after 120 characters.
  4. Click Submit to send the information to IBM. The Submission Confirmation window displays. You can access the Support Portal site by clicking the hyperlink on the Submission Confirmation window.
  5. Click Close to exit the Submission Confirmation window.
Note: After you create the PMR, an event with error code 1048: "Unexpected enclosure fault" and error id: 85373 or 085073 is added to the event log.

This event is created as part of the process that generates the PMR and does not indicate any additional issue with the system. You can close the event by right-clicking the event on the events page and selecting "Mark as fixed."
