The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is only removed if both canisters are replaced. (The
two canister TPMs contain the system encryption keys and must be transferred to the new pair of
canisters.)
Procedure
-
Read the safety precautions in the IBM Systems Safety Notices. These guidelines help you
safely work with the system.
-
Remove the two canisters, as described in Removing and replacing a canister.
- Remove the interface card and riser card assembly from a canister, as
described in Removing and replacing an interface adapter.
- Separate the retention clips on the TPM holder slightly
1 , then lift the front edge of the TPM 2
and remove the TPM, as shown in the following figure.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 to remove the TPM from the other
canister.
- To replace the TPM in the new canisters, complete the following steps for each
canister:
- If the interface card is still in place, remove it now, as described in Removing and replacing an interface adapter.
- To install the TPM, separate the retention clips, fit the TPM into its socket, then
release the clips.
- Replace the interface card, as described in Removing and replacing an interface adapter.
-
Install the new canisters, as described in Removing and replacing a canister.
