Configuring an NTP server on the active and passive file modules

Configure one or more external NTP servers on the active and passive file modules for time synchronization.

To synchronize the system date and time on all of the file modules in the system, the active and passive file modules must be configured to synchronize their time with an external NTP server. The active file module is used by other system members as their time source so that all of the file modules of the system are time synchronized. To minimize the occurrence of Kerberos token errors that can result from client systems not being synchronized with the Storwize V7000 Unified system, you can configure the same NTP server to which the client systems refer.

GUI navigation

To work with this function in the management GUI, log on to the GUI and select Settings > System > Date and Time.

CLI usage

Use the setnwntp command to configure the active and passive file modules to use one or multiple external NTP servers. In the following example, two NTP servers using IP addresses 10.0.0.10 and 10.0.0.11 are specified:
# setnwntp 10.0.0.10,10.0.0.11

See the setnwntp command for complete usage information.
