Linux: During interactive installation, why do the prompts display incorrectly and halt my installation?
When you run the .bin package (such as symsetup7.1_lnx26-lib23-x64.bin) to install IBM® Spectrum Symphony on Linux® interactively (that is, not using silent installation), you expect the installer to prompt you with questions to advance through the installation. Instead, you see placeholder text similar to the following strings:
Platform_done_msg Platform_EGO_sym_install_msg Platform_confirm_msg Platform_validate_msg
You cannot answer the prompts and cannot proceed with the installation.
To fix this, do one of the following:
- Set the LANG environment variable to your locale (such as en_US). Do not set it to C, c, or POSIX. To check the current LANG setting, run locale. Run the interactive installation.
- Install IBM Spectrum Symphony using silent mode, rather than interactive mode. To run in silent mode, append the --quiet option when you run the .bin package, during installations.
