Restarting service instances

Restart a service instance to have a configuration change take effect.

Before you begin

You must be a cluster administrator or have the Services Control permission to restart service instances.

About this task

You can restart service instances in the START and RUN states to have a configuration change take effect (for example, after changing the log level for a service). You can also restart a service instance that was held in the HOLD state.
Note: You cannot restart a service instance belonging to the WEBGUI service.

When you restart a service instance, the system chooses the best host to start the service on again; it may or may not start the service on the same host as before.

Procedure

  • To restart a service instance from the cluster management console, follow these steps:
    1. From the cluster management console, select Spark Instance Groups.
    2. Select a instance group.

  • To restart a service instance from the command line, run the egosh service instance restart command. For more information, see service.
