Db2 V10.5 end of support (EOS) for IBM Cloud Pak System Db2 pattern type

Db2® V10.5 provides end of support (EOS) information for IBM Cloud Pak System Db2 pattern type.

Abstract

IBM Cloud Pak System includes Db2 pattern type along with Db2 images for V10.5 (Linux and AIX).

After Db2 V10.5 end of support (EOS), IBM Cloud Pak System Db2 pattern type future releases (after V2.3.1.1) does not include Db2 V10.5 images.

Db2 V10.5 end of support (EOS) is announced here.

IBM Cloud Pak System includes Db2 pattern type and Db2 V10.5 images. IBM Cloud Pak System releases after V2.3.1.1 does not include Db2 V10.5 images. Also, laterDb2 pattern type releases do not support Db2 V10.5 installation.

Db2 V10.5 binary files are available as a part of earlier releases of Db2 pattern type (such as Db2 pattern type V1.2.6.0) and corresponding deployment is successful. But the support is according to Db2 standard guidelines. Therefore, such deployments are not supported after the EOS date (30 April 2020) for Db2 V10.5.

If Db2 V10.5 instances are deployed in your work environment, you can use the following options.

Migrate data to the new instance

See the following table to migrate data to the new instance.

Current state	Target state	Actions
User is at the Db2 V10.5.x.x instance.	Migrate to the Db2 V11.1.x.x or Db2 V11.5 instance.	Deploy the new Db2 V11.1.x.x or Db2 V11.5 instance by using the Db2 pattern type V1.2.11.0 or higher. Migrate the databases or tables from the earlier Db2 V10.5 instance to the newly deployed Db2 V11.1.x.x or the Db2 V11.5 instance. Work with the Db2 support team to complete database migration. Clean up the Db2 V10.5.x.x instance.

Manual upgrade

Manually upgrade to Db2 V11.1 or Db2 V11.5 before you do any operation from the Cloud Pak System console. For example, choose the Check for Updates or Apply Fixpack options. For more information, see Check for Updates or Apply Fix pack options for Db2 pattern type V1.2.11.0 or later.

Users who use Db2 V11.1 or Db2 V11.5 (from earlier Cloud Pak System or Db2 pattern type versions) are not impacted.

Existing users who purchased extended Db2 V10.5 support can continue to use Db2 V10.5. Work with the Db2 product team for support requirements.
