You can export, delete, and save to a file assets that
are used in business lineage reports.
Before you begin
You must
have the Metadata Workbench Administrator role.
About this task
You can save all assets to a file that is in a comma-separated
value (CSV) or in a Microsoft® Office
Excel (XLS) format. In addition, you can delete selected assets and
export selected extended data source assets to a CSV
file that is in the correct format for importing.
Procedure
To
export, delete, or save business lineage assets:
- On the Advanced tab, click .
- Select one or more assets and specify the action to take.
If you click , all
assets of the asset type are selected or cleared, not just the assets
that are displayed on the current page.

Click . The assets are deleted from the metadata
repository.Note:
If an asset cannot be deleted from the
metadata repository, the icon is not displayed. For
example, you cannot delete assets of type data file or schema.

To export assets |
Click . The assets are exported to a single CSV
file in the format that is correct for importing extended data sources. Note:
If
an asset cannot be exported, the icon is not displayed. For
example, you cannot delete assets of type BI report or schema.

To save all assets to a file |
Click . Select the file format: - Save as Data Format (CSV)
- Saves the file in a comma-separated value format. Select this
option if you want to use the CSV file to transfer the data to other
applications.
- Save as Report Format (XLS)
- Saves the file in a Microsoft Office
Excel format. Merges cells with identical content.
Note:
Selecting specific assets to save to
a file has no effect. All assets are saved to a file.

What to do next
Assets that are deleted from the metadata repository might
cause invalid mappings in extension mapping documents. Build a query
of the extension mapping asset type to find all sources and targets
that use the deleted asset.
