Creating Responsibility Area Types

An administrator can create responsibility area types that can be used as templates to add responsibility areas for internal persons or for the master data objects such as suppliers, categories, organizations, and regions.

About this task

Responsibility area types are broad categories under which responsibility areas can be created. Responsibility areas are skill sets, experiences, or association of internal persons with suppliers that can help other users search for information effectively.

You must define the responsibility area type, description, and the scope of these types to be used for master data. You must mark the responsibility area types as active. Users can view the responsibility area only if at least one active responsibility area type is configured. You can also edit the responsibility area types and all changes are cascaded to the responsibility areas. If you delete any of the responsibility area types, all the associated responsibility areas are deleted.

Procedure

To create responsibility area types, complete the following steps:

  1. In the left navigation pane, click Persons Directory > Configuration > Internal Profile Settings.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Click Add and enter the details in the Responsibility area type section.
  4. Select the Restricted Use check box if you want to restrict the use of the responsibility area type for specific users. Users with appropriate permissions only can use the restricted responsibility area types.
  5. Select the Active check box to make the responsibility area type active.
  6. Click Save & close.
