Example of Creating a Trend Analytic Report

You can create a trend analytic report with the help of the example of showing all commodities whose spend is increased by 10% between 2005 Q1 and 2006 Q1.

Procedure

To create a trend analytic report for commodities whose spend is increased by 10% between 2005 Q1 and 2006 Q1, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Analytics menu, click Create New.
  2. On the Create New submenu, click Trend.
  3. Enter a name and description for your report.
  4. In the Report Type section, select Original, if you do not want the report to be displayed in the Top Reports section.-OR-Select the Top Reports option, if you want the report to be displayed in the Top Reports section.
    Note: If you select the Top Reports option, select an option in the adjacent Top Reports drop-down list.
  5. From the Select Time drop-down list, select dimtime as the option
  6. Select 2005 Q1 as the start time and 2006 Q1 as the end time for the analytic report.
    Note: The time dimension is always displayed on the X-axis by default.
    Note: In the current example, we are considering the time period between quarter 1 of 2005 and quarter 1 of 2006, you can also select the time duration for your report as all years, all months, all quarters, and so on, depending on your requirement.
    When you specify a range, the options in the end time field are available based on your selection in the start time field. If you select year (example, 2007) in the start time field, you are allowed to select only years in the end time field (2008, 2009,...). If you select quarter in the start time field (example, 2008 Q3), you are able to select only subsequent quarters (2008 Q4, 2009 Q1,...) in the end time field and so on.
    Note: For a dimension to be available as a time dimension in the time drop-down list, contact your administrator.
  7. From the Show All list, select Commodity as the dimension.
  8. From the Whose list, select a Spend from the Measures section. For more information, see step 9 of Creating an Analytic Report.
  9. Select a condition from the Search Criteria drop-down list.
  10. In Search Criteria, select the increased by condition and specify the value as 10.
  11. From additional options under Search Criteria, select % of Total Node Measure as the option.
  12. Click Commit Criteria. The page is refreshed and displayed with Save as Template and Submit options available.
  13. Click Save as Template, if you want to save the same analytic condition for future use.
    Note: The conditions that you specified for your report are displayed. You can specify a maximum of three conditions. You can remove an existing condition but cannot edit it.
  14. Click Submit to generate the report.
